Let’s be honest: it’s a mess. The "HD" in HDCAM is purely theoretical. Colors are washed out, looking like someone poured skim milk over Quahog. Motion blur is rampant—when Peter fights the giant chicken, it’s less a fight scene and more an impressionistic watercolor. You’ll also enjoy the occasional head wandering into the bottom of the frame from a theatergoer in 2008. That said, the analog tape hiss and occasional wobble give it a weirdly cozy, late-night Adult Swim vibe.
