She hit submit .
Mira slumped against the console, her forehead cool on the glass. Somewhere across the ship, the crew would be reading her proposal. Some would argue. Some would thank her. But for now, in this small room, she had done what her father would have done: she had broken the rule to save the family.

“Mira,” Leo said finally, “if we don’t… the algorithm will just re-queue it under Emergency Collective Directive 7 . That means the whole crew votes. And you know what they’ll choose. They’ll choose survival.” She hit submit
