To this day, The Pirate Bay lives on, limping from domain to domain (the original .org long gone), while the IFPI still exists. But for one afternoon in 2006, a bunch of pirates in Stockholm made the music industry’s homepage say exactly what they wanted it to say: “Welcome. The Pirate Bay. The world’s largest BitTorrent tracker.” the pirate bays.se

That last line was the real point. The Pirate Bay had already survived police raids, seizures, and lawsuits. Their servers were constantly being taken down by authorities.
