His first thought was malware. He ran a full Windows Defender scan. Nothing. He checked Disk Management. The drive appeared as “Healthy (Primary Partition),” but the volume label was a string of unreadable characters: ÆØÅ⸮þ. He tried to eject it. The option was greyed out.
