The chat went white. Then black. Then a single line of text appeared:
It had his username on it.
He was strip mining when he saw something wrong . Behind a wall of invisible stone, there was a black cube. Not obsidian. Not coal. A perfect, featureless black cube, floating mid-air in a small cavern. He walked through the stone (it felt like walking through cold silk) and touched it.

He dug down to his secret stash. The diamonds were still there, visually. But when he hovered his cursor over them, the tooltip said: minecraft:air .
Kai sat in the dark of his room. He tried to launch singleplayer. The X-Ray pack was still active. His singleplayer world loaded, but all blocks were invisible except one. Floating in the void, at spawn, was a single black cube. /ban Kai xray_1
The first block he broke was stone. It didn't turn to dirt. It turned to glass.
