Young Sheldon froze. “That’s impossible. This is just a compression artifact.”

The video flickered. A frame froze. Then Sheldon saw himself—not the nine-year-old he was in 1991 Medford, Texas, but a much older version. Thirty-something. A grey streak in his hair. He was sitting in an office with a Nobel Prize on the shelf behind him.

Outside the window, young Sheldon saw his mother, Mary, arguing with Pastor Jeff. His twin sister, Missy, was throwing a baseball at the side of the house. His brother, Georgie, was trying to sneak out with his girlfriend. young sheldon s05e18 x265

Sheldon stared at the file. Then he deleted it.

“The episode you’re encoding. It’s the one where you prove to the whole school that your physics project was stolen. You’ll be right. You’ll win the science fair. But you’ll also lose your only friend who wasn’t afraid to tell you when you were wrong.” Young Sheldon froze

He walked outside, sat next to his friend on the porch, and said, “I was thinking about the science fair project. Maybe we can both present it. Jointly.”

“Do what?” Young Sheldon leaned closer to his Compaq Presario. A frame froze

“Because knowing you’re going to make a mistake doesn’t always stop you. But sometimes… it changes how you apologize the next day.”
